Sahil turns 6 months old and gets a new room and house

It has been over a month since our last update. We moved into our new house at the end of June. Sahil moved into his own room which we painted and got all ready for him. He also started eating solids - he's had rice cereal and apple sauce so far. He didn't like them at first but now is doing great with them. See video below of his first taste of solid food.

Since the last update, Sahil has been to Chicago for Arun Uncle's graduation and he ended up staying in Atlanta when we went to Sonoma for a wedding in early July. Sahil's Arathi Aunty came to Atlanta to babysit with Sumi Aunty for the weekend. I think he was definitely happier at home rather than being carted off to California for a less than 48 hour trip. That said, we had an amazing time, really great wedding weekend. Last week Sahil's cousin Rithik was born (we can't wait to meet him in person) and his Amma and Ajja from SLC came into town for a visit.

Sahil officially turned 6 months old on July 13th. He weighs in at 14 lbs. 2 oz now. He is getting more active every day. He loves playing in his exersaucer and is almost sitting up on his own.

The next few weeks we are going to try and get a little better settled into the house and finish up Sahil's room - we'll post pics of the completed project soon (hopefully).

Summer is here!

We officially closed on our house today. We are finally proud home owners in Atlanta. We'll be moving to the house at the end of the month. We are looking forward to getting settled in.

It has been a busy summer so far and it's only June. We've been to Utah and Ohio in the past month and have upcoming trips to Chicago and San Francisco. Sahil did great on both the Utah and Ohio plane rides. He cries a little just before landing but I think it's because his ears hurt - the bottle and paci can only help so much. He'll also be coming with us to Chicago for Arun's graduation. Not sure yet if he will come to California with us. I realized that it's hard to travel with a baby - not because it's hard to manage the baby (it's not), but more so because it's hard to stay organized with everything that the baby needs. Anyway, the trips have been hectic but fun.

Here are some new pics of Sahil from the last month and some video from today. He is talking all the time and pretty close to turning over, I think. He also always has his hands or thumb in his mouth, as you will see. He will be five months tomorrow, I cannot believe it!

I bought Sahil a bumbo today. I regretted it after I brought it home because he looks like such a big boy in it! You'd never believe he is only 4 months.

Mother's Day Weekend

I got to celebrate my first mother's day this year! We spent Saturday in Virginia Highlands walking around and went out for brunch. Today we have just been relaxing at home. Below are some new videos from this weekend - we got a new camera and haven't quite figured out the camera settings, the video is not too clear. We hope to have that fixed shortly. Happy mother's day to all the mommies!

Also, this past weekend I was laying with him on the bed and he rolled over. He hasn't done it since though. He just keeps becoming more fun by the day!

Baby Sahil is three months old today! Can't believe how the time has flown by. Sahil is a great baby - he only cries when he is hungry or tired. Best of all, he has started to smile. He has two great dimples. Hopefully you will get to see the smile soon, he wasn't quite cooperating for today's posting.

We are long overdue for an update. Sorry. Much has happened in little Sahil's life in the past month. First, Sahil's Krishna Ajja finished his Atlanta visit and returned to SLC in early March - we enjoyed his visit and miss him. Then Sahil celebrated his two month birthday on March 13th. Then Sahil's Arathi Aunty visited him in the third weekend in March. This same weekend Sahil took his first trip to Piedmont Park. Shabari Amma left to return to SLC at the end of the month. Sahil misses her, especially when he has his baths now - he looks at me like, "who do you think you are giving me a bath?" Ajja and Amma look forward to seeing Sahil again in May when we go to SLC over Memorial Day weekend.

Sahil is happy to report that although the Shetty grandparents have left, he now has the Sundaram grandparents in the house - they arrived yesterday and he is happily taking advantage of his Sree Patti. He insists on being held by her all day long.

Yesterday I took some new video of Sahil - they are almost videos. Sahil almost cooperating with tummy time and then almost mastering thumb sucking. He is adorable.

Atlanta doesn't usually get snow, but this past weekend on Sunday we got a good dusting.

Valentine's Day

Today is Sahil's first valentine's day. His Arathi Aunty sent him lots of chocolate and the onesie he is wearing below - we are helping him with the chocolate part. We will celebrate the day by cooking at home tonight and amma and ajja.

Sahil's 1 month birthday

Sahil had his one month birthday yesterday. Since January 13th he has gained nearly two pounds and is closing in on six pounds. We hope he will be close to seven pounds by his due date on February 24th. In one month he has developed a serious personality - he likes being kissed, taking warm baths, his play mat and eating every two hours, on the hour. He dislikes being burped, having his diaper changed (unless it's a dirty diaper in which case he is happy to have it changed) and the process of being swaddled for bedtime. He essentially has us wrapped around his finger - unbelievable how someone so little can rule your whole life!

We brought Sahil home from the hospital today. Doctors told us he is doing great. We were a bit surprised that they let us take him home given how little he still is, but everyone is very pleased with his progress. As they told us, Sahil doesn't realize that he's small. Sahil has a very mild case of jaundice so doctors put him under blue light to help treat it. Other than that, he is doing really well. He has quite an appetite for a little guy!

Anila gave birth to Sahil Krishna Sundaram at 5:16 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 13th. He came a few weeks early but both he and Mom are doing great. He'll be at the hospital for a couple of weeks so that he can gain more weight. Below are some pictures of the new arrival - he is a mini Bman!

As 2008 comes to a close...

This is the first entry of the Sundaram family blog! We are starting this blog because we expect 2009 to be a big year for us - we are expecting a baby boy in early 2009 and figure that this is a great way for everyone to keep up with him. Here is a brief history of how we got here:

2004 - Bharat and Anila meet on a blind date in Seattle.
2005 - We get engaged and move to Philadelphia for 2 years so Bharat can get his MBA.
2006 - We get married in Anila's hometown of Salt Lake City. You can see our wedding video below.
2007 - Bharat graduates from Wharton with his MBA and we move to Atlanta. Bharat starts work at BCG and I take a year off from working :).
2008 - We finish our first year in Atlanta, I start working again :(, and we learn we are expecting a baby!
